If you changed canon facts, what did you change? It says: " Godric Gryffindor believed that anyone who showed magical ability should be allowed to attend Hogwarts. Appearance: Based upon the image by Lightmaker from JKR's website (shown here), he has mane-like red hair, green eyes, and a powerful build. Canon, or artistic license? Only Jo (and Lightmaker) know for sure. Home: According to the Sorting Hat, Gryffindor came "from wild moor." Bathilda Bagshot's A History of Magic is a little more specific: Gryffindor was born in the West Country village of Godric's Hollow, named for Godric himself (DH16). Skills: According to JKR, "Godric Gryffindor was the most accomplished dueller of his time, an enlightened fighter against Muggle-discrimination." Artifacts: The Sorting Hat originally belonged to Gryffindor. His goblin-made sword, with rubies in the handle, has also survived and was, at various times, in the possession of Dumbledore, Harry, Ron and Neville. The sword was not stolen, though the goblins feel othervise (BLC). Device: Lion. Colors: Red and gold." I am changing nothing. Look at the available/taken list and put which characters (at least ten names) that your character would interact or be familiar with: Salazar Slytherin, Rowena Ravenclaw, Helga Hufflepuff, any of the Gaunts and/or Riddles, students of his House (i.e. Harry, Ron, Hermione, James, Lily, Sirius, etc.). Though to be honest, Godric will likely talk to anyone willing to have a conversation with him. Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual. Staunchly. Personality: Godric is amiable to those he considers of no threat. To his friends and those he considers family, he is the fiercest friend one can hope to have. (Not to mention one of the most powerful allies of all time.) Godric holds true to the concept of a "pride". His lions are the most precious people in the world to him, and he will defend them with his strength and his sword until he is no longer able to stand up. His enemies are a different story. He will track them and number their days should they wound him so deeply that he feels compelled to take action. Godric does not like to play games when it comes to protecting those he loves. He has been and forever will be a true knight at heart. All of this is his public image. Hidden deeper is the Godric Gryffindor that very few know. The very idea that Gryffindor has fears of his own might sound preposterous, but he does indeed have them - and they haunt him almost nightly. His reasoning for becoming a knight in the first place and crusading so far away from home to build a place where witches and wizards can be taught without fear is because of a childhood experience wherein he lost both of his parents to Muggles who simply did not understand the beauty of Magic. Ever since that time, Godric has been dead set on equality. He will sacrifice whatever and whoever he has to to ensure it remains an essential element in the School. Salazar Slytherin may have his own ambition, but Gryffindor's tenacity can surely rival it. Family: Godric had a mother and a father, but they were ripped from his life fairly early on. He does not recall much about them aside from the fact that they were extraordinarily brave people. He hopes his actions thus far have made them proud, but as far as the Gryffindor line goes - he is the last Heir (unless he decides to procreate, of course). Personal History: As stated before, Godric separated himself from his family early in life. After the Muggles swarmed and overcame his family's estate, he had no choice but to flee for safety. On horseback, he rode through many countrysides and met with all sorts of people. Relaying his quest to them, he was often met with dismayed shakes of the head or outright laughter. He couldn't pretend this didn't sting. He persevered on regardless and soon met Salazar Slytherin. Rather amazed at the man's Magical talent, he stayed by his side and became both a student and a teacher of and for the darker wizard. It wasn't long before their friendship was forged. As Fate would have it, the two men then ran into two ladies by the name of Rowena Ravenclaw and Helga Hufflepuff. Once again, Godric was impressed by the level of ability these two witch's possessed. Providence surely must have been smiling on him. The quartet soon made their way into what was later dubbed Scotland. Establishing the Castle was no easy task, and the group became strained when it came to matters of what should be taught, who should be taught and what sort of protective Magic should be used to ensure the Castle was never ransacked. However nothing rivaled the tension that was caused when the subject of Blood Purity was brought up. For the first time, Godric found himself seeing red when it came to Salazar. It hurt him more than he let on that his friend would think so little of the Muggleborns. He realized that he must put his feelings aside, however - for the good of the Castle. So, it was with a heavy heart, that Godric landed the final blow on Salazar after years of arguing with him. Banishing him from the Castle Grounds, he sealed the perimeter against the man ever being allowed inside again. Godric did not live long after this heart breaking development. He will never say he regrets doing what he did - for it had to be done - but he will say that he wished things could have worked a different way. Fitting for his title, the knight was killed in a duel - where a stray blow caught him in the chest and severed his heart.
